Building your own off-grid tiny home could be a great option if you've been considering tiny home living and want to live off the grid. But first, it's important to note that all appliances/electronics have different power requirements, so be sure to check the specifications before making any decision. Also, don't forget to account for any additional electronics such as laptops, cameras, projectors, etc.

Let’s say you already have a power kit or energy source powering your tiny home but want to implement solar to help the environment, decrease your carbon footprint, and have a backup power source if the main power source goes down. For this, you'll need a reliable solar system to help power your tiny home off the grid. The system should include solar panels, a charge controller, a battery bank, an inverter, and all wiring, mounts, and necessary fuses.

One kit that we recommend is our 1080W 24V Solar Kit. This kit includes 3x 360W 24V Solar Panels, a 40A MPPT Charge Controller, and all the necessary wiring and mounts that you will need! All that’s missing are the batteries and fuses. In terms of batteries, we recommend going with at least 6x 12V 100Ah Lithium Batteries. Now for fuses, 3x 20A Fuses should do the trick, with one being used for every panel. For more information on this kit, please click here. Lastly, as it pertains to an inverter, given the fact your using 1080W of panel power, our 2000W Inverter is highly recommended to plug in your AC devices. Should your requirements exceed this, feel free to contact us for assistance.

For those looking for a more portable option, or one that doesn’t require drilling or mounting, we recommend using a portable solar kit and generator such as our 200W Foldable Solar Kit with 700W Generator. The benefits of this kit are that you can connect the 200W foldable panel to your pre-existing battery bank with the help of the included charge controller. Another benefit to this kit is the fact that you can charge the included 700W portable generator, which can then be used to charge your small electronics and power small appliances.

In summary, living off-grid in a tiny home requires careful planning and consideration when it comes to utilizing an energy source. But by choosing energy-efficient appliances and carefully monitoring energy consumption, you can live comfortably and sustainably in your tiny home. One important note is that all the above products are just recommendations, and it’s important that you choose what will work best for you given your exact needs.
