PORTABLE GENERATOR OR SOLAR BATTERY: WHICH ONE SHOULD YOU CHOOSE?
12th Jan 2023
In today’s article, we will be talking about a couple of different solar solutions. The first of which is portable solar generators, and the other is solar batteries. From this, we will discuss the difference between portable solar solutions and solar batteries, and which is right for you.
First, let’s talk about portable solar generators. These solar generators have been growing in popularity for quite some time. As opposed to conventional fuel-powered generators, portable solar generators don’t produce any pollution and/or noise. They’re also very easy to store and use, given their relatively small size, while still producing a significant amount of power.
Next, let’s talk about solar-powered batteries. These types of batteries have also been popular for quite some time as they allow you to have a backup power source for when you venture off the grid. This is also a great product to have to complement your solar setup as it adds that piece of mind you need when you leave grid-tied power behind. However, a solar battery needs to be permanently affixed to an application to properly do its intended job, leaving the portable aspect behind for the most part.
With all this being said, both portable generators and batteries have unique applications they can be applied to. However, one of the benefits of utilizing a portable solar generator is unique as it can be used off the grid, no matter your application. Further extending your capabilities and uses no matter how far you go.
So, which one should you choose? This all depends on what your desired application is. If you have an Overlanding vehicle and like to go off-road to explore, then we would recommend the portable generator option. However, if you are using an RV or trailer, a battery bank full of solar batteries is the way to go. Another deciding factor could be how much power you are looking for. If it’s just a few devices, an air mattress, or your computer, we’d recommend using a portable generator. However, if you want to power more components and larger appliances, then you should go the battery route.
At the end of the day, your application and energy requirements will dictate what you should choose. None of the two options is wrong, it just comes down to what you use and what you need. Ultimately, a solar battery is designed for those who are looking for a more permanent solar setup, whereas a portable solar generator is for those who want power on the go.
