HOW TO CHOOSE A SOLAR PANEL MOUNT?

In this article, we are going to explore what are solar panel brackets for, and what are the different types. Many may have overlooked a solar panel mount, but it is an essential part for a complete solar system. More importantly, your choice of the mount can largely affect the efficiency and longevity of the solar system. 

To illustrate the different types and usages of brackets, we will use our best seller - 200W Solar Panel 12V: Mono-crystalline as an example. Due to its popularity, the 200w solar panel has been purchased by a range of household, commercial and industrial customers. Many have been using the panels for rooftop, RV, marine, boat, camping, traffic signs, street lights, telecommunication, etc. Due to the variety of applications, we have offered many mounts and brackets to expand the panel installation options. 

Our solar panel bracket collection can be divided into two broad categories: 

• Flat Surface
• Pole/Wall

Flat Surface

For flat surface installation, the most common bracket is a Z Bracket set. 

The set contains 4 x Z brackets and hardware for mounting. It is usually used on a rooftop, top of a RV, marine, garages or any other flat surfaces. The benefit for this type of bracket is that they are cheap and very easy to install. The downside is once you fix it, you can no longer adjust the panel in terms of angle and position. 

Another popular type is our adjustable solar panel tilt mount. 

Like the Z Bracket set, it can be easily installed on flat surface as well. The main difference is that this adjustable solar panel tilt bracket allows you to adjust the panel angle. The direct benefit of having a tilt bracket is that you could get higher power conversion since you can adjust the panel angle to better chase the sun. Plus, it is easier to reach to the back of the panel for maintenance in the future.

Pole/Wall

Depends on the panel size, we have either single arm or double arm pole/wall tilt mount for the panel. They are designed to fit Newpowa panels, but can be easily adapted for many other solar providers. 

The series is using heavy-duty aluminum alloy and allows 0-90 degree adjustable tilt angle. The set would include the hardware, screws, bolts, washers, nuts and steel clamps. 

For a single arm pole/wall mount, it is usually designed for smaller panels. For example, the mount shown above is designed to fit a 10-35W panel. The common application is to fix the panel with a surveillance camera, gate opener, garden lighting, etc.

This double arm side-of-pole mount would allow two 100W-200W solar panels. The double-arm design would provide stronger support to prevent the panel from overturning or falling. It means you can put up to two of our best seller - 200W 12V Monocrystalline Solar Panel

Common applications for this unit are: uneven rooftop installation, disaster relief, remote farms and homes, industrial application, etc.
