COMBINING PORTABLE & FIXED SOLAR PANELS - CAN IT BE DONE?
24th Aug 2023
In today’s world, solar panels are one of the most popular options to generate energy sustainably. However, there's been a debate lately about combining portable and fixed solar panels and if it can be done.
While the idea may seem attractive at first, our experts don't recommend it. Here's why:
1. Unpredictable power output: When you connect portable solar panels to fixed ones, the wattage & voltage may not be constant, leading to fluctuations in power output. This could damage your electronics and other devices connected to the solar panels.
2. Different charging rates: Portable and fixed solar panels may also have different charging rates, which means the battery bank will not charge efficiently, leading to a waste of energy.
3. Mechanical instability: We don’t recommend mixing both fixed solar panels & portable solar panels as your system may interfere with itself, potentially causing false readings and incorrect outputs.
4. System design complexity: Combining different types of solar panels can also create an overly complex system design, making it challenging to monitor and control the flow of energy.
Overall, it's not recommended to combine portable and fixed solar panels, as it can lead to unstable power output, battery charging issues, mechanical instability, and a complex system design.
Instead, if you want to increase your solar power output, you can opt for installing more fixed solar panels. Alternatively, you can use portable solar panels independently and connect them to battery banks or portable generators, without integrating them with your fixed panels.
Renewable energy is an excellent choice to power your life while taking care of the planet. By understanding the potential risks of combining portable and fixed solar panels, you can make an informed decision about your energy needs.
